This week we read the book Roger, the Jolly Pirate by Brett Helquist.

We were so inspired by the book that we went on a treasure hunt in the library!

Thanks to information supplied by the Alabama Department of Archives and History we learned that part of Alabama was once underwater. We discovered a prehistoric whale called the Basilosaurus that lived in the Alabama ocean.
